Odds of Winning                            Current Statistics on Games and Slot Machines

During the expected lifetime of a game, including bonus games, the Tribal-State Gaming Compact requires that each game shall theoretically pay out a minimum of 80% for games requiring no skill such as slot machines, 83% for games of skill such as video poker, and 75% during the lifetime of the keno video game.

The highest single advertised award on each gaming device shall occur statistically at least once in every 25,000,000 games, unless it is a progressive jackpot, in which case the award shall statistically occur at least once in every 50,000,000 games.

Gaming Device Monitoring Process

Each gaming device and the software/computer chips that control the odds of the machine must be in compliance with the Compact. Each gaming device and related software must be certified by an independent testing laboratory that it complies with all requirements of the Compact prior to use for play in this State.

In order for a gaming device to be certified by the independent testing laboratory, the manufacturer must provide a production sample of the gaming device, including, but not limited to, schematics, block diagrams, circuit analyses, technical and operation manuals, program object, source codes, hexadecimal dumps, and other related information to the independent testing laboratory.

The Department receives from the testing laboratory a certification letter that contains findings, conclusions and an opinion as to whether a gaming device, component or software complies with all requirements of the Compact.

A manufacturer, supplier, or distributor must provide the Department of Gaming with advance notice of any shipment of a gaming device, component, or software to any gaming facility in the State.

The Department of Gaming randomly inspects gaming devices at each of Arizona’s Indian gaming facilities on a regular basis.

Any modification or change to any previously certified gaming device, component or software can not occur until the testing laboratory has certified that the modification complies with all requirements of the Compact. Such modifications or changes must be reported to the Department of Gaming, and the gaming device is subsequently inspected by the Department.
